Illumination Entertainment has enjoyed a resent string of hits based on their Despicable Me series, including next month’s Minions. 2016’s The Secret Life Of Pets will be their first step back out into a new story line in many years, and it looks to be a fun film, dealing with the life of inner city animals after their masters leave the apartment for the day.
Planned Release on July 12, 2016, The Secret Life Of Pets will feature a potpourri of comedic talent. Comedy superstars Louis C.K., Eric Stonestreet and Kevin Hart make their animated feature-film debuts in this film, and co-stars Steve Coogan, Ellie Kemper, Bobby Moynihan, Lake Bell, Dana Carvey, Hannibal Buress, and Jenny Slate. As with most Illuminations films, this is directed byChris Renaud (with Yarrow Cheney) and produced by Illumination founder and CEO Chris Meledandri and his long-term partner Janet Healy.
The story is of a quick-witted terrier rescue who gets agitated when his master brings home a sloppy mongrel named Duke. Things get worse when the two dogs find themselves stuck in the streets of New York City, until they meet an adorable white bunny Snowball who might cause more trouble than expected.
It turns out that Snowball is the leader of an army of pets that were abandoned and are determined to get back at humanity and every owner-loving pet. The dogs must thwart this plot and make it back in time for dinner.
