Nut Job 2 Gets Release Date
ToonBox Entertainment’s The Nut Job 2– originally to be released January 15th- is now looking at a release next month on May 19. The sequel to 2014’s The Nut Job features the return of Will Arnett as Surly Squirrel, a mischievous squirrel who is forced to survive in the big city. He is accompanied by his rat friend, appropriately named Buddy. Both films are based on a short film Surly Squirrel from 2005, directed by Peter Lepeniotis.
Lepeniotis also directed the first feature film, but the sequel is directed by Cal Brunker, who also directed Escape From Planet Earth in 2013. Brunker wrote the script, with some help from Scott Bindley and Bob Barlen. Canadas Toonbox Entertainment produced both feature films, with Korean company Red Rover handling the animation.
In this sequel, Surly Squirrel and his animal buddies team up against an evil mayor who wants to bulldoze their park and construct an amusement park in its place.
