Golden Globe Best Animated Films

The Golden Globes have announced their picks for the Best Animated Feature Film of the year. Sponsored by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, the Golden Globes picked the five nominees from a field of 17 contenders including L’arte Della Felicità (The Art of Happiness) (Big Sur), Big Hero 6 (Disney), The Book of Life (Twentieth Century Fox), The Boxtrolls (Laika), Cheatin’ (Plimpton Studios) , Henry & Me (Reveal Studios), The Hero of Color City (Exodus), How to Train Your Dragon 2 (DreamWorks), The LEGO Movie (Warner Bros.), Mr. Peabody & Sherman (DreamWorks), Penguins of Madagascar (DreamWorks), Pirate Fairy (DisneyToon), Planes: Fire & Rescue (DisneyToon), Rio 2 (Blue Sky), The Snow Queen 2 ( Wizart), Song of the Sea (Cartoon Saloon), Kaguya Hime no Monogatari (The Tale of the Princess Kaguya) (Studio Ghibli).

Of these 17 films, five were ultimately nominated for the award. The final nominees are:

Big Hero 6 (Walt Disney Animation Studios)

The Book of Life (Twentieth Century Fox)

The Boxtrolls (Laika)

How to Train Your Dragon 2 (DreamWorks)

The LEGO Movie (Warner Bros.)

Notably, none of the finalists are foreign films.

The awards will be handed out on January 11, 2015.
