West Coast hip-hop artist Nate Dogg dead at 41

California-based hip-hopper Nathaniel Hale, best known on stage as Nate Dogg, died Tues­day night due to com­pli­ca­tions from mul­ti­ple strokes, his attor­ney, Mark Ger­a­gos, said. He was 41.

Hale had suf­fered from strokes in 2007 and 2008.

As part of the trio Hous­ton, he — along with Bobby Sandi­manie, Jr. and Steve Prud­holme — per­formed “I Like That,” heard on the sound­track of the 2005 Fox ani­mated fea­ture film Robots.

He guested as him­self in The Story Of Thug­nif­i­cent, a 2007 episode of The Boon­docks.
