Ice Age: Continental Drift will feature more than pals Manfred, Sid, Diego, Ellie and Scrat when it premieres in July. Rather than the usual short featuring Scrat chasing his acorn, the fourth Ice Age movie will reach out to America’s most dysfunctional family with The Longest Daycare.
Announced after the season finale of The Simpsons on Sunday, the new theatrical short will feature the youngest family member, Maggie. The short has been produced in 3D, as has Ice Age: Continental Drift.
“It’s hard to do a 20-minute Maggie episode, but in four minutes it’s great. She’s like Charlie Chaplin,” Simpsons executive producer Al Jean commented to Entertainment Weekly exclusively. David Silverman directs.
Maggie go back to the Ayn Rand School for Tots. Each child through an airport security-style testing machine to measure their future. Maggie is scanned and the machine responds, “Nothing Special”, so they put her in an area that’s not all that great.
