Scandal won’t terminate Schwarzenegger’s toon show (UPDATED)

The Governator

The Governator

Despite his paternity scandal, Ah-nuld will be baaaaack.

Producers of an animated project by Arnold Schwarzenegger — in which he plays a superhero with a secret identity that he hides from his wife Maria — say that the upcoming series The Governator will proceed.

The former California governor, who finished his term in January, has acknowledged fathering a child with a member of his household staff.

Schwarzenegger voices the lead character in The Governator, co-produced by A2 Entertainment, Archie Comics and Stan Lee’s Pow! Entertainment. Although it’s still waiting to be sold to a United States network, the series has already been sold to several foreign countries.

The ex-politician stars as a superhero with a crime-fighting hideaway underneath his Los Angeles home. Schwarzenegger “creates a secret identity beneath his home — so secret that even his wife, Maria, and kids are unaware, a superhero living a double life, who’s also a devoted family man who needs to make it home for dinner every night,” says the news release for The Governator.

The series will not be altered, said A2 Entertainment CEO Andy Heyward.

A2’s Governator animated series and its lore is fictional and stands on its merits,” Heyward said. “Of course, we wish the family the best in this challenging time.”

No networks have yet committed to airing the series.

Meanwhile, contradictory information is coming from the Schwarzenegger camp. The former California governor’s lawyer said yesterday, “At the request of Arnold Schwarzenegger we asked Creative Artists Agency to inform all his motion picture projects currently underway or being negotiated to stop planning until further notice.”

Governor Schwarzenegger is focusing on personal matters and is not willing to commit to any production schedules or timelines. This includes Cry Macho, The Terminator franchise and other projects under consideration. We will resume discussions when Governor Schwarzenegger decides,” he continued.

So we shall see…
