Wenche Foss, one of Norway’s most popular actresses, died Monday in Oslo after a terminal illness, the nature of which was undisclosed. She was 93.
Foss provided the voice of Enkefru Stengelføhn-Glad in the 1975 animated feature film Flåklypa Grand Prix, known in English as Pinchcliffe Grand Prix. She voiced the same character in another animated feature, 1998’s Solan, Ludvig og Gurin med reverompa (Gurin with the Foxtail).
The star of numerous movies, she had a wide range of roles. Besides the screen, she was in comedies and major musicals.
She was born Eva Wenche Steenfeldt-Foss Stang in Oslo (then known as Kristiania) on December 5, 1917. Making her stage debut at 17, she was a stage performer until well into her 80s.
