Polish actress Irena Kwiatkowska

Polish actress Irena Kwiatkowska, one of the most familiar faces on the screen, died Thursday morning at the House of Veteran Actors of the Polish Stage in Skolimow. She was 98.

Kwiatkowska voiced Mama in the 1979 animated feature film Proszę Słonia (Please, Mr. Elephant).

Born in Warsaw on September 17, 1912, she starred in theater and cabaret as well as movies. Much of her fame stemmed from her collaboration with the Kabaret Starszych Panow (The Cabaret of Elderly Gentlemen) and her roles in such TV comedy series as Czterdziestolatek (Fortysomething).
