Pol­ish actress Irena Kwiatkowska

Pol­ish actress Irena Kwiatkowska, one of the most famil­iar faces on the screen, died Thurs­day morn­ing at the House of Vet­eran Actors of the Pol­ish Stage in Skolimow. She was 98.

Kwiatkowska voiced Mama in the 1979 ani­mated fea­ture film Proszę Sło­nia (Please, Mr. Elephant).

Born in War­saw on Sep­tem­ber 17, 1912, she starred in the­ater and cabaret as well as movies. Much of her fame stemmed from her col­lab­o­ra­tion with the Kabaret Starszych Panow (The Cabaret of Elderly Gen­tle­men) and her roles in such TV com­edy series as Czter­dziesto­latek (Fortysomething).
