Ex-Cinar president Weinberg surrenders to police

The for­mer pres­i­dent of now-defunct ani­ma­tion com­pany Cinar gave him­self up to police late Thurs­day night at Montreal’s Pierre Elliott Trudeau air­port, one week after the Que­bec provin­cial police issued a war­rant for his arrest.

Ronald Wein­berg is sched­uled to appear in court today (Friday).

Wein­berg, 59, was taken into cus­tody by provin­cial police offi­cers after arriv­ing on a flight from the Domini­can Repub­lic. He is one of four com­pany exec­u­tives fac­ing a total of 36 charges, includ­ing fraud, forgery, using fake doc­u­ments and pub­lish­ing a false prospectus.
