Disney storyboard artist Ricky Garduno dead at 35

Ser­vices will be held today in Hol­ly­wood for sto­ry­board artist Ricky Gar­duno, who died at 35.

Since 2001, he worked for Dis­ney, Nick­elodeon, Warner Bros., Fox and Car­toon Network.

The cause of death remains uncon­firmed. Although some peo­ple are spec­u­lat­ing online that it was sui­cide, his death may have been acci­den­tal, Amir Amidi wrote on the Car­toon Brew site.

How­ever, Dave Thomas, pro­ducer and sto­ry­board direc­tor of Nickelodeon’s Fairly Odd­par­ents and TUFF Puppy, wrote on his per­sonal blog Decem­ber 8 that Gar­duno had died “los­ing a long bat­tle with depression.”

Born in 1976, Gar­duno worked on the series El Tigre, The Buzz on Mag­gie, Fam­ily Guy, The Drinky Crow Show and Coconut Fred’s Fruit Salad Island!. As well, he cre­ated the online comic 1930 Nitemare The­atre, which ran on Dumm Comics for a num­ber of years.

Ser­vices are sched­uled at 3 p.m. Decem­ber 17 at Hol­ly­wood For­ever Ceme­tery, 6000 Santa Mon­ica Boulevard.
