Disney’s planned feature film for 2018 is getting bigger, with a new title and more information. Now retitled Gigantic (formerly Giants), the film will be another retelling of the classic Jack and thew Beanstalk fairy-tale (Bryan Singer made a live-action/CGI version in 2013). Nathan Greno, who previously co-directed 2010’s Tangled, is still firmly behind the film as director. Announcements were made this weekend at Disney’s D23 Expo in Anaheim.

Dorothy McKim, who produced the acclaimed short Get a Horse! was announced as producer of the film. The team that had all our children singing the songs from 2013’s Frozen returns to write the music for Gigantic. Robert Lopez and Kristen Anderson-Lopez won an academy Award for Best Original Song (“Let It Go”) for their work on Frozen, too. No cast members were announced, however.

Set in Spain during the Age of Exploration, this variation on the Jack and the Beanstalk story features Jack discovering a world of giants up in the clouds. He teams up with Inma, a 60-foot-tall, 11-year-old girl, agreeing to help her find her way home. She initially treats him like a living doll. Jack eventually proves himself to be her equal, and agrees to help Inma, while they try to stop the Storm Giants, who stand at 120 feet, from destroying the giant community.
