Snowtime! An Animated Ball


La Guerre des Tuques snowtime!

In the wake of the massive snow storm on the Eastern seaboard, I found myself waiting in line to see Carpe Diem’s winter children’s animated snowfest La Guerre des Tuques, which is called Snowtime! for US audiences. This Sundance showing was the premiere of the English-language version of the film, and was shown as part of the Sundance Kids segment of the film festival. The kids at the show were all met by Chloe at the door, and most left with their very own Snowball of fun.

2015 Student Academy Award Winners Announced


Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences Oscar

The Academy has announced this years medalists for the Student Academy Award. The medalists in the animation category are An Object at Rest, Soar, and Taking the Plunge. The specific placement for the films- gold, silver, and bronze- will be announced on September 17 at an awards ceremony in Beverly Hills, California. Animated shorts also showed up in the alternative category, with Chiaroscuro and Zoe both also placing there.

Inside Out Flips Box Office Upside Down


Inside Out

The Pixar hit machine is tearing up the box office. After suffering some criticism for not releasing anything in 2014, it now looks like that might have been worth the wait- at least audiences seem to be of that opinion. In it’s opening weekend, Inside Out brought in an estimated $91.1 million dollars, giving it the record for both an original animated and live-action movie gross for an opening weekend.

New Cast For Good Dinosaur

Troubled Pixar feature film The Good Dinosaur just suffered another shake-up- an almost complete change-up in the voice cast. The film, which was originally set for a December 2013 release, has suffered setback after setback, from release dates to story to even having the director replaced. Now, only one of the original cast remains.
