Cartoon Network Shows For The Season

cartoon-networkCar­toon Net­work is look­ing ahead to a new year of pro­gram­ing with a vari­ety of new self-produced and syn­di­cated pro­gram­ing includ­ing a reboot for Bugs Bunny, and the newest return of Scooby-Doo and the gang. A vari­ety of exist­ing pro­gram­ming has also been green-lit for addi­tional sea­sons. Car­toon Net­work has also announced it’s first limited-time short series based on a short from Car­toon Net­work Stu­dios shorts program.

Third Boxtrolls Trailer

boxtrollsLaika Entertainment’s newest stop-motion fea­ture film The Box­trolls has a spiffy new trailer online today. The stu­dio which brought us Para­Nor­man in 2012 and Cora­line three years before that looks to repeat again with an incred­i­bly crafted film. Orig­i­nally titled Here Be Mon­sters, the film is a 3D stop-motion and CG hybrid ani­mated feature.

Incredibles Animated Sequel

incredibles_2Dis­ney CEO Bob Iger con­firmed to the Dis­ney share­holder meet­ing that Pixar is actively work­ing on a sequel to their 2004 hit film The Incred­i­bles. While very lit­tle other infor­ma­tion was released, Iger did state the orig­i­nal direc­tor Brad Bird was work­ing on the script for The Incred­i­bles 2. Iger also men­tioned the stu­dio is in work on a sec­ond sequel to Cars, Cars 3.

Last night saw Dis­ney freeze out most of the com­pe­ti­tion when the best and most cre­ative in ani­ma­tion met at UCLA’s Royce Hall for the 41st Annual Annie Awards. Spon­sored by ASIFA Hol­ly­wood, the awards rec­og­nize great works in tele­vi­sion, the­atri­cal film and games. This years awards were hosted by voice actor Tom Warburton.

Maleficent Dream Trailer

MaleficentDis­ney pre­miered a new trailer for Malef­i­cent, the live-action adap­tion of the Dis­ney ver­sion of Sleep­ing Beauty. We see a lot more of Angelina Jolie as Malef­i­cent, and it is impres­sive. The new look at the film was first shown as an ad dur­ing Sun­day night’s Grammy awards show. The first look trailer was pretty hard to judge the film by; this new trailer seems give a lot bet­ter look at what to expect from this new film.

Frozen Wins Best Produced

Frozen_4As it steam­rolls it’s way toward February’s Oscars, Frozen wins another award, this one for Pro­ducer Peter Del Vecho. The 25th Annual Pro­duc­ers Guild Awards were awarded last night at the Bev­erly Hilton hotel in Bev­erly Hills. In an non-animated stun­ner, this years com­pe­ti­tion fea­tured the first tie for the top film prize in the PGAs’ 25-year his­tory. Live-action films Grav­ity and 12 Years A Slave shared the Dar­ryl F. Zanuck Award for Out­stand­ing Pro­ducer of The­atri­cal Motion Pictures.

Clip From Mr. Peabody & Sherman

peabodyDream­Works Mr. Peabody & Sher­man has a new clip for you to judge it by. The film, which is due out in the­aters on March sev­enth, is a film based on Jay Wards’ Peabody’s Improb­a­ble His­tory, a seg­ment on the long-running Sat­ur­day morn­ing series Rocky and His Friends. Long fod­der for the­atri­cal films, the show has spawned at least two the­atri­cal films– three if you count the related George of the Jungle.

Disney’s Frozen was the big pick for the Best Ani­mated Fea­ture at the 71st Annual Golden Globe awards last night, spon­sored by the Hol­ly­wood For­eign Press Asso­ci­a­tion. Other top win­ners were “12 Years a Slave” and “Amer­i­can Hus­tle” for best motion pic­ture drama and best com­edy or musi­cal motion pic­ture, respec­tively. The wins thrust the two films into the top posi­tions for the Acad­emy Awards’ best pic­ture Oscar.

British Oscar Nominees Announced

British Acad­emy of Film and Tele­vi­sion Arts (BAFTA)

British Acad­emy of Film and Tele­vi­sion Arts or BAFTA– the British ver­sion of the Acad­emy Awards– has announced their nom­i­nees for the 2014 awards, includ­ing the ani­mated films under con­sid­er­a­tion. Three films are nom­i­nated for both the ani­mated fea­ture com­pe­ti­tion and the ani­mated short cat­e­gory. Pre­vi­ously known as Short Ani­ma­tion, the shorts com­pe­ti­tion has been renamed British Short Ani­ma­tion to play up the UK involve­ment in the films fea­tured. There has been an ongo­ing require­ment that nom­i­nated shorts have sub­stan­tial British con­tri­bu­tion to the pro­duc­tion; the fea­ture nom­i­nees have no such restriction.
