Skyler Page, creator and executive producer of Cartoon Network’s Clarence animated series has been fired from the network. Page, a CalArts graduate and storyboard artist for Adventure Time, is accused of sexually assaulting a female artist who also works at Cartoon Network. The Cartoon Network spokesperson said that the show- which is still in its first season-will continue.
The allegations became public when Emily Partridge, a female artist who works on Cartoon Network’s Adventure Time, went public on Twitter with the allegations on Sunday, June 29. On Monday, June 30, an illustrator named Maré Odomo- presumably a friend of Partridge’s- revealed that Page was notorious for groping women around Cartoon Network. Her tweet cautioned women, “Don’t be left alone in a room with him [Page].”
After Odomo’s tweet naming Page, Partridge confirmed he was the person who assaulted her. Partridge had previously filed a complaint with the HR department at Cartoon Network which resulted in Page’s firing. To date, no criminal actions have been filed. Partridge said she went public because she did not want “the same thing to happen to anyone else.”
Since Partridge went public with her allegations, many other people associated with the show and Page have come forth with similar stories. Yesterday, Patrick Harpin, one of Clarence’s former writers, slammed Page on Tumblr.
Obviously Skyler Page sexually assaulted a female artist at CN. Skyler’s a piece of shit, and CN should give him the boot. Emily Partridge is one bad-ass chick for standing up to a guy who a lot of people wanted to cover up for. Skyler’s asshole behavior (though not yet sexual assault) was the main reason I quit the show more than a year ago.
Harpin went on to say that Page “never wrote a single episode of Clarence,” and fans shouldn’t “punish the talented crew that actually raised Clarence.”
Ryan Pequin, a storyboard artist on Regular Show said via Twitter:
Skyler Page acted frighteningly inappropriately towards someone close to me recently and I feel it’s important for people to know this… and though it seems he struggles with mental illness, that’s no excuse for repeated, aggressive, bad behavior, especially toward women.
Page is said to suffer from bipolar disease.
