Astérix Feature Film Shows First Trailer

asterix-1The French CGI animated feature Astérix: Le Domaine des Dieux (Asterix: The Land of the Gods) has released it’s first trailer. This long-running series, this will be the first CG animated feature in the Asterix series. The film is directed by Alexandre Astier and Louis Clichy, with animation by Mikros Image Animation Paris. Budgeted at 31 million euros, the film will release in France on November 26, 2014; no word on a US release at this point.

The story takes us back in time two thousand years. Julius Caesar decided to circle the Gaulish village by constructing a residential area for Roman owners, and called the “domain of the gods.” This construction is designed to civilize the irreducible and weaken by depriving them of their main resource, the forest, and to do so down the last bastion resisting him and taunted for.

Despite the interventions of the Gauls that disrupt work, the first building was finally built and the new owners are starting to move. As had been planned by Caesar and Anglaigus, its architect, the new Roman people get used to go to town to do their shopping, starting to influence them. Of these, only Abraracourcix, Getafix, Asterix and Obelix are aware of the danger. Asterix and Obelix are responsible for finding a solution…

  1. Yep, you are correct! My error. It looks like Mac Guff Ligne was involved for a bit of time in pre-prod but not in the actual show. I have edited this post to remove that reference, and updated the film on BCDB…
