Do you remember the Acme Corporation, purveyors of fine explosives, heavy-weight anvils, high-speed tonic and – yes!- tornado seeds to Wile E. Coyote, Super Genius? Warner Bros. has been in development of a film based on the company since 2010, and the film is proceeding toward production status. While none of the original Looney Tunes or Merrie Melodies characters are set to appear in the film, and Steve Carrell is said to be the Steve Jobs-like CEO of Acme Corporation.
The film is to be a live-action/animation hybrid in the vein of Space Jam and Looney Tunes: Back In Action; it was originally planned as just a live-action film. It will be a look at the Acme corporation, the company that supplies Wile E. Coyote with all his goofy gadgets in the classic Warner Bros. Road Runner vs. Coyote shorts. Steve Carrell is the CEO of Acme.
The Lego Movie producers Roy Lee and Dan Lin are set to produce the film, with Ashley Miller and Zack Stentz handling the script. The pair have recently worked together on a few of the comic super heroes films, as well as Top Gun 2. Glenn Ficarra and John Requa are “in early negotiations to direct,” according to the Hollywood Reporter.
