annecy-2014The Annecy International Animated Film Festival has announced 18 films in the feature film competitions for the 2014 festival. Nine films will be in competition and nine out of competition, and these were selected from 68 films submitted this year. Annecy is considered the preeminent animation film festival in the world, and is a festival that many in the industry look to for the best in animation.

The nine feature films in competition are:

Asphalt Watches by Shayne Ehman, Seth Scriver (Canada)
Cheatin’ by Bill Plympton (USA)
Giovanni No Shima (Giovanni’s Island) by Mizuho Nishikubo (Japan)
L’arte Della Felicità (The Art of Happiness) by Alessandro Rak (Italy)
Last Hijack by Femke Wolting, Tommy Pallotta (Germany, Belgium, Ireland, the Netherlands)
Minuscule – La Vallée des Fourmis Perdues by Thomas Szabo, Hélène Giraud (France)
O Menino e o Mundo (The Boy and the World – Some Dreams Survive) by Alê Abreu (Brazil)
Saibi (The Fake) by Sang-ho Yeon (South Korea)
Unustatud Lugude Ooper: Lisa Limone Ja Maroc Orange Tormakas Armulugu (An Opera Of Forgotten Stories: A Rapid Love Story Of Lisa Limone And Maroc Orange) by Mait Laas (Estonia, Finland)
